It’s summer and this is the time where we all diet, right? Eating healthy can be difficult on it’s own when you do know what to eat, but with all this false advertising, it can get pretty confusing. There are so many foods claiming to be “healthy” but is it the truth? Here are “my top 5” foods to stay away from. These foods will impact your overall health & keep you from losing weight. & gfs the last thing we need to do is fall for some sh*tty lies.
I know I know, it’s disappointing & the bottle even says natural, pure, organic & raw.. ugh so untrue…. Agave nectar is not a natural sweetener, it is actually made similarly to high fructose corn syrup and what’s even worse is that it has more fructose than high fructose corn syrup. HFCS is immediately turned into stored body fat, whaaaat???!!! Ya, no thank you! So all that agave nectar is going straight to your tummy. Did I mention it’s summer? So no one needs that B.S.
No matter how you slice it, banana chips are not healthy. Did you know that banana chips are actually fried? Yikesss….Just like most dried fruit, banana chips are stripped of most of their vitamins and nutrients and all that added saturated fat is a big no-no. So no nutrients AND fried? What’s the point, banana chips?!?!
Let’s talk about energy bars, their main ingredient? Guess….oh wait….. High Fructose Corn Syrup & even the energy bars that claim to be naturally good for you have loads of sugar in them (dried or evaporated cane syrup, tapioca syrup, brown rice syrup, agave syrup & the list goes onnnnnnn) and no matter what kind of sugar it is…. it’s still sugar. From now on, whenever you want an energy bar, look at the ingredients. How many types of sugar is in them? Is sugar one of the first 3 ingredients? You will be surprised! Unfortunately, I have never found an energy bar that I’m impressed by, if you find one please let me know!
Ok, it’s not a food but juice cannot be overlooked. Fruit juice = Sugar, thats basically what fruit juice is, liquid sugar & sometimes (most of the times) there isn’t actually any fruit in the juice, just fruit “flavors.” Which can be made up of 50-100 different ingredients… ummm Yuck! But Kimberly….. what about Fresh squeezed?! Yes, it’s a completely different story but, fresh squeezed juice doesn’t offer the fiber and all the nutrients that you get from fresh fruit. Stick to water, you will thank me later.
Veggie Chips, straws, etc… are a lot more similar to regular potato chips than you would think. Walking in the chip aisle and you see veggie chips, the better alternative, right? Nope… put those veggie chips down gfs. Veggie Chips are usually made from white potatoes, oil & vegetable powders.. sounds familiar to regular potato chips doesn’t it?
When I go grocery shopping I always ignore what it says on the packaging and nutritional info. I don’t count carbs, protein or etc… I look at the ingredients. Call me crazy but if I don’t know what an ingredient is, I will literally stand in the aisle of the grocery store and google it. It really motivates me to eat right & to know what I’m putting in my body. My hubby has started to do it too!
Hope everyone enjoyed their Memorial Day weekend!
