Lazy Girl’s Guide to an Easy Morning Smoothie

It’s week 2 of the New Year! Have you followed through with your New Year’s Resolutions?

We make New Year’s Resolutions because we ALL want to do better in our life! Right?! (Lose weight, work harder, make more money, exercise more……. the list goes on…..

The New Year’s Resolution that always fails 1st is………. (((DRUM ROLL))) WAKING UP EARLIER! It lasts a day or two but lets be honest… that alarm goes off and your dreaming about Ryan Gosling whispering sweet nothings in your ear and you hit the snooze button. Back off to LALA land dreaming about those wash board abs.. It hasn’t happened to me… Just what I’ve heard.

It sucks waking up earlier! Then the domino effect… you end up losing motivation, your bummed, disappointed and the discouraging cycle continues…. until next year….

Well Not this year!!

Listen, I’m all about finding the easiest way to do things while still living a healthy lifestyle! I know the time of day that I am extremely productive and when there is absolutely NO WAY I am going to get off my couch unless it’s to refill my wine. 

So here it is folks:  You can still hit the snooze button and have a healthy delicious smoothie in the convenience of your own home ((w i t h o u t)) having to buy those expensive already prepared smoothies.

((Sidenote: Grocery stores typically charge $8 or more for pre-made smoothies.))

 

Smoothie Prep! 

Sunday nights, l make smoothies for the week and throw them in the freezer.

Rinse & Cut up Fruits and Vegetables

Put them in a ziplock bag

Put them in the freezer

BOOM! YOU’RE DONE!

Another awesome benefit for this method? Frozen fruit will eliminate the need to add ice! It will be much thicker and keep you feeling full!

 

 

My Two Favorite Energy Boosting Smoothies 

 

With Love From Kimberly’s Vitamin Cocktail Smoothie

2 large handfuls of spinach

4 chunks of pineapple

4 chunks of mango

1 sliced banana

1 handful of blueberries

2  tbsp almond butter

Pinch of cinnamon

1 tbsp of ground flaxseeds

1 cup unsweetened almond milk or coconut milk

Note: Do not freeze the non-dairy milk & almond butter

3 large handfuls of spinach,

1 sliced apple

1 tbsp of ground flax seed,

1 sliced banana,

1 cup of unsweetened almond milk,

1 handful of raspberries

1 handful of sliced strawberries

1 handful of blueberries

 

411 on Flax seeds:

Flax seeds are my super weapon and you can literally put them in anything!  Flax seeds are rich in fiber & will keep you feeling full, hence, why you NEED them in your smoothies. They have soluble fiber which prevents from absorbing fat and cholesterol that comes in your food. They also prevents sugar cravings and promote Weight Loss!! Need I say more?!?

 Flax seeds are full of vitamins, minerals and nutrients.. here are some below:

Magnesium (Aids your metabolism)

Vitamin B1, (Aids metabolism and focus)

Amino Acids, (Boost immune system)

Omega 3- fatty acids, (Great for skin & hair)

Always buy grounded flaxseed! Whole flaxseeds can be hard to digest and difficult to absorb all of the benefits.  Below I linked my favorite flaxseed brand. Keep them in the fridge for freshness.

BTW, I am obsessed with my Healthy Human 32oz Cruiser Tumbler. I use it for my smoothies and coffee. My coffee stays hot for HOURS & my smoothies stay super cold, so they are perfect to sip on-the-go. The straw is stainless steel and it comes with a brush cleaner. My color is Stone White.
